Yuna Saito took piano lessons from the age of two. After a Bachelor's degree in Musicology at the Tokyo University of the Arts, she moved to Italy in 2012. She trained as repetiteur at CUBEC Mirella Freni Belcanto Academy in Modena as scholarship student in 2013, and completed her Master in Collaborative Piano under Prof. Raffaele Cortesi at the A. Boito Conservatory in Parma in 2014 with honors, also attending masterclasses with Enza Ferrari, Ralf Heiber and Peter Nelson.
From 2013 to 2015, she got her first professional engagement at Teatro Lirico Speri-mentale di Spoleto, where she participated in productions from baroque to contemporary, “Tosca”, “Così fan tutte”, “Gianni Schicchi” and “La Bohème” among many others. She became a member of the Academy of Teatro alla Scala in Milan (2015–2017), where she worked with singers and conductors like Leo Nucci, Ruggero Raimondi, Ádám Fischer and Massimo Zanetti and was selected for a three weeks exchange program at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.
After her diploma, she got engaged at the Academy of Teatro alla Scala as coach for repertoire study and accompanied masterclasses of celebrated singers like Luciana D’Intino, Renato Bruson and Luciana Serra.
She also worked at the Teatro Sociale di Como, the Verdi Conservatory in Como and the Fondazione Petruzzelli di Bari. Since 2015, she regularly collaborates with Tiroler Festspiele Erl in Austria, where she worked with the conductors Gustav Kuhn, Friedrich Haider, Paolo Carignani and others.
Yuna is often official pianist at vocal competitions or auditions, and plays harpsichord, orchestral piano, celesta and organ in opera and choir productions. She has performed in numerous opera recitals, Liederabend or concertos with chamber music in Europe and Japan.
