DeMiaN MatUshEvskYI

Bassbariton

The Ukrainian bass-baritone Demian Matushevskyi first studied choir conducting at the “Salome Kruschelnytska” music school in Ternopil before he decided to pursue a career as a singer. He graduated 2017 from the National Music Academy of Ukraine “Peter Tchaikovsky” in Kiev, where, as a member of the opera studio, he has already played roles such as Sobakin in Rimsky-Korsakov's “The Tsar's Bride”, The Old Man in Rachmaninov's “Aleko” and Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky's “Eugene Onegin”. While still a student, he performed at the Kiev National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, among others, in the title role of Mozart's “Le nozze di Figaro” and as Chub and Patsyuk in Rimski-Korsakov's “The Night Before Christmas”. In 2019 he sang the solo bass part in Mozart's “Coronation Mass” in the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. Demian Matushevskyi became a member of the NRW Opera Studio in the 2020/21 season.
