Greek Soprano Penny Sofroniadou accomplished degrees with honors in singing at the University of Macedonia Thessaloniki as well as in harmony and counterpoint at the Synchronous Conservatory Kreta. She received her Bachelor's degree at the Cologne University of Music and Dance from Prof. Brigitte Lindner and her Master's degree in the classes of Prof. Cheryl Studer and Prof. Monika Bürgener at the University of Music Würzburg. In addition, she attended masterclasses with Jeannette Pilou, Marlis Petersen, Raina Kabaivanska and others.
She had already performed many roles before finishing her Master's degree in 2017. After her 2016 debut in the role of Concepcion ("L’heure espagnole") in a production by the Cologne University of Music at the Theater Aachen, she received a scholarship of the Theaterinitiative Aachen for the 2016/17 season. In Aachen, she sang Eurydice ("Orpheus and Eurydice"), Suor Genovieffa ("Suor Angelica"), Nella ("Gianni Schicchi") and Anne Frank in Grigori Frid's mono-opera "The Diary of Anne Frank". She was also under contract at the Opera Bonn and appeared alongside José Cura as 2nd niece in Britten's "Peter Grimes".
From 2017 to 2019, she was a member of the opera studio Niederrhein at the Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach, where she performed Amor and Eurydice ("Orpheus and Eurydice"), Lauretta ("Gianni Schicchi"), Pamina and 1st Lady ("The Magic Flute"), Xenia ("Boris Godunov") und Constance ("Dialogues des Carmélites") among others.
Penny Sofroniadou is a winner of several awards and was a soloist with many orchestras such as the Thessaloniki State Orchestra and the WDR Rundfunkorchester Cologne.
