Born in Monistrol de Montserrat (Barcelona), Gerard Farreras studied singing at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu Barcelona with Oriol Rosés. After finishing his studies, he received a scholarship for a master's degree which included studying Mozart’s "The Magic Flute". He has attended masterclasses with Simon Estes, Joan Pons, Carlos Chausson, Eric Halfvarson, Jeanette Favaro Reuter, Joan Martín Royo and others. In 2016, his performance of Il Commendatore ("Don Giovanni") in Sabadell was awarded. He also won the "Barcelona Real Círculo Artístico" Competition to perform Mozart's "Requiem". At the Verdi Festival 2017, he got a prize at the "Voci Verdiane Città di Busseto" Competition to perform the role of Dottore Grenvil ("La Traviata"). He was a finalist in the 16th edition of the Ottavio Ziino Competition in Rome and got an award at the Tenor Viñas Competition 2018. He sang Sarastro and Sprecher ("The Magic Flute") and Il Commendatore ("Don Giovanni") with the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar.
During the 2018/19 season, his engagements included First priest and Second armored man ("The Magic Flute") at the Peralada Festival, Sciarrone ("Tosca") in Oviedo, Montano and Herald ("Otello") in Pamplona and Colline ("La Bohème") in Sabadell.
